    Sword Scabbard Drag
This pretty Sword scabbard drag was just under the leaves by an old road in the woods leading up to a fort. It looks like the one the Marine Corps officer has in "Civil War Collector's Encyclopedia" p.316.

    Relic Hunting
I got 4 plates in May. I had the whole place to myself - that's very unusual around here. They are 2 buckles with puppy paws and 2 breast plates. This has been a good year for bullets. I found 2 Gardiner explosive bullets, a CS Austrian, and a six ringer. I also found a Maynard and a Burnside. I found 3 US bases but I didn't photograph them - they look like normal 3-ringers. Here are 2 of the ten large cents I've dug so far this year and a silver dime (1817, 1845, 1912.) I added this breastplate in July.

    20 pound Parrott shell
This 20 pound Parrott shell (wt. ~ 15 lbs) had a paper fuse and was fired from Maryland into a Confederate hut in Virginia.

    Confederate staff button
I found a little spot with 2-ringers and Mississippi balls. This Confederate Staff button was the only button. Does anyone know how to restore burnt guilt? I dug out the fire pit nearby but I only got melted lead, broken glass, and a percussion cap. Shucks.
